The charges being applied for by the arresting officer include driving while intoxicated - chronic offender, possession of a controlled substance (Carisoprodol x4) and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. Carisoprodol is a type of muscle relaxant.

An Osage Beach man was arrested for DWI and drug possession after a one-vehicle wreck during the evening commute time Monday in the Shawnee Bend area of Sunrise Beach.

Jeffrey S. Rhea, 51, was hospitalized after the crash with injuries described as moderate in the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The wreck occurred around 5:20 p.m. January 8, 2018. Rhea was arrested at 6:50 p.m. by a state trooper, according to online MSHP arrest reports. The charges being applied for by the arresting officer include driving while intoxicated - chronic offender, possession of a controlled substance (Carisoprodol x4) and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.

Rhea was released for medical treatment and was taken to Lake Regional Hospital.

Rhea was reportedly driving a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer east on Route TT when the SUV failed to negotiate a curve and went off the right side of the roadway about 31 feet east of Three Oaks Drive. The SUV overturned.

The report indicated Rhea was not wearing a seatbelt. The Blazer was described as totaled and was towed from the scene.
