UPDATE: According to an updated press release from OBPD, the suspect was taken into custody at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening with assistance from the Camden County Sheriff's Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol.

His identity has not yet been released, pending formal charges.

Osage Beach Police Department officers responded to an emergency call of an attempted armed robbery at the Osage Beach McDonald's at 6033 Osage Beach Parkway Tuesday morning, according to a press release.

Details are still scant as the investigation remains active and the suspect at large, but no one was injured during the attempted robbery.

According to OBPD Lt. Michael O'Day, a white male suspect approximately 6-feet tall weighing roughly 200-pounds and wearing a light blue stocking hat, dark colored jacket and light colored shirt, pulled into the drive through, placed and paid for an order before attempting to hold up the cashier.

As the cashier went to take another order after giving the suspect his change, he pulled out what was described as a silver handgun, possibly a revolver, and raised it in the air to grab her attention.

The gun was never pointed directly to the cashier, but the suspect did demand some sort of cash payment. The cashier was able to shut the drive-thru window and return further into the building as the suspect took off, heading eastbound on Osage Beach Parkway.

According to the press release, OBPD officers had located a suspect vehicle at another location outside the City limits of Osage Beach and were remaining on the scene as the investigation continues.

Further information will be released as deemed necessary.
