On Friday, November 10, 2017 area Veterans attended a breakfast and an assembly at the Macks Creek R-V School District.

On Friday, November 10, 2017 area Veterans attended a breakfast and an assembly at the Macks Creek R-V School District.

In all 28 veterans were present. These veterans and their families visited with one another in the newly completed Charlie and Jackie Adell Library Media Center and were honored during a district-wide assembly in the school gymnasium.

Pastor Lyle Mankey was the featured speaker. He spoke to the crowd about the daily struggles parents and spouses endure while their loved ones are deployed. Pastor Mankey’s son, Major Adam Mankey is serving his second deployment in Kuwait with the Army National Guard.

He encouraged everyone not to forget those who are called to protect our nation and to keep their families in their hearts and prayers. The crowd also enjoyed the Macks Creek band and choir performances.

The assembly concluded with a tearful rendition of Taps remembering all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and for all those Veterans who have gone before us.
