An intersection that has been the scene of several traffic deaths over the years will be the subject of a public meeting.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a meeting from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, to discuss the intersection of Highway 54 and Rt. W near Rick's C Store in Lake Ozark. The meeting will be held at Heritage Elementary School, 1501 School Road, in Lake Ozark.
The proposed project involves building a diamond interchange to replace the current intersection. A diamond interchange is a common type of road junction used where a major highway crosses a minor road. One proposal calls for a complete reconstruction of the area by eliminating the current stoplight at Highway 54 and W Road and establishing on-ramps and off-ramps, new bridges on Highway 54 and a connector road. The proposal also calls for eliminating the round-a-bout near Rick's C Store and establishing a T-intersection.
The meeting is an open house format. No formal presentation will be made. The public is invited to attend to ask questions of MoDOT staff and to provide comments. Displays and handout materials and comment forms from the briefing will be available at www.modot.org/central.
