Lake Regional Health System announces Cira Monnig, FNP, joined Lake Regional Pulmonology on Oct. 1. Monnig works closely with Pulmonologist Harjyot “Joe” Sohal, M.D., to care for adult patients with lung diseases and respiratory conditions.

“We welcome Family Nurse Practitioner Cira Monnig to our team,” said Michael Burcham, vice president of Lake Regional Physician Practices. “There is great demand for pulmonology services in our community, and Cira will help us improve access to care.”

Monnig has worked in a variety of health care settings, including a heart and lung surgical floor, surgical ICU, community-based nursing in the mental health field and family practice. Most recently, she served as a family nurse practitioner with Central Ozarks Medical Center in Richland.

She earned her Master’s in Science of Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner from a cooperative program of the University of Missouri – Kansas City and Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.

Monnig had 10 years of nursing experience when she became a family nurse practitioner in 2014. Her greatest motivation for continuing her education, she said, was the opportunity to do more for her patients.

“I believe the most important thing a provider can do is listen to their patients,” she said. “As a provider, it is my job to provide education; however, at the end of the day, it is the patient who makes all of the final decisions about their health care. Providers always should respect that patients are individuals who are ultimately in charge of their own health."

"It is their health and their life. The provider should work with each patient to find the best treatment plan for each individual. The patient is more likely to feel heard, respected and involved in their care and therefore is more likely to reach their health care goals.”

Originally from Monroe, Louisiana, Monnig moved to Springfield, Missouri, in 2003 and to Camdenton in 2015. She and her husband, Brandon Monnig, have three children. In her free time, Monnig enjoys watching her kids play sports and being outdoors.

Lake Regional Pulmonology is located in Suite 213 of the Michael E. Henze Medical Office Building, which is connected to the west side of the hospital. To schedule an appointment, call 573-302-3199. To view Monnig’s bio, visit www.lakeregional.com/physicians.
