To recognize the National School Lunch Program and the 30 million children it serves every day, Morgan County R-II Schools will recognize National School Lunch Week from Oct. 9-13.

The theme, “Recipes for Success” is an opportunity for students to share their favorite recipes with each other. Students will be encouraged to bring in their favorite recipe written or typed on (front side only) 8 ½ x 11 paper.

Students who bring in a recipe will receive a copy of all recipes submitted so please make sure your name in on the recipe you bring in! Recipes need to be submitted by Oct. 12. They can be turned in to the elementary, middle school, or high school offices.

National School Lunch Week will emphasize the healthy foods that are offered daily at Morgan County R-II Schools. In addition to creating a recipe book of our students’ favorite recipes, we will also have students vote on their favorite school lunch, hold lucky tray days throughout the week, have mystery taste tests, and have guest lunch servers

“School lunches are healthier than ever, with more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and less fat and sodium,” said Tracy Lepley, Director of Nutrition Services. “National School Lunch Week helps us education parents and students about all the benefits of our lunch program, and the appealing choices we offer.”
