The 4th annual 9/11 Freedom Run 5K will start at 8 a.m. on Sept. 9 at JJ Twig's on Bagnell Dam Blvd. The 5K will be open to runners and walkers and will include chip timing.

1. Freedom Run

The 4th annual 9/11 Freedom Run 5K will start at 8 a.m. on Sept. 9 at JJ Twig’s on Bagnell Dam Blvd. The 5K will be open to runners and walkers and will include chip timing. Each runner/ walker will participate in memory of a FDNY Firefighter that lost their life on Sept. 11 at the World Trade Center. Refreshments will be provided and there will be door prizes. Registration is $20 before the event and $20 the day of. The event raises money for the Lake Ozark Fire Protection District’s Shop with a Fireman Program which takes children for a ride in a firetruck to go Christmas Shopping. 2. Running of the Knights

The King’s Academy preschool and elementary school will be holding its first Running of the Knights 5K Run/Walk and 1-mile Fun Run on Sept. 10. The Fun Run starts at 2 p.m. and the 5K will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Christ the King Church in Lake Ozark. Race-day registration opens at 12:30 p.m. Entry is $30 for the timed 5K, or $25 per person for teams of four or more. The Fun Run is $15. Deadline to register is August 18. 3. Dog Walk/Run

The 5K Run/Dog Walk will be held starting at the Eldon Public Safety Building at 7:30 a.m. October 7. Race day registration is open from 6:45-7:15 a.m. Entry is $15 by Sept. 29 or $20 after. The entry fee for dogs is $5 per pet. Dogs must be leashed. The event raises money for the Eldon Dog Park. Special awards will be given to top male and female finishers and a special award to the top dog finisher. For more information, call 573-392-2291.

4. Walk to End Alzheimer’s

The National Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held October 7, with a local event held in Camdenton at the City Park. Registration is at 8 a.m. with a ceremony at 9 a.m. and the walk starting at 9:30 a.m. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. 5. Crush Pancreatic Cancer 

The Crush Pancreatic Cancer 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held at the Linn Creek City Park Oct. 14. The event is held in memory and honor of those who have been impacted by Pancreatic Cancer. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the walk starting at 10 a.m. Individual registration is $35 or $70 for a family (up to four people). Cost if pre-registered is $25 per person or $60 for a family. Register by Sept. 26 to be guaranteed a T-shirt. A chili cookoff will also be held. Serving begins at 11 a.m. with winners announced at 12:30 p.m. Entry fee for a four-person team is $50.
