The Lake of the Ozarks Stop Human Trafficking Coalition (LOSHTC) invites the Lake area community to an upcoming free film series that will provide fresh views to prevention of human trafficking and aid to victims.

In the first movie, “Chosen,” Brianna was a “good girl” from a stable, two-parent home. She was a cheerleader, an athlete, a straight A student. And yet the three men watching her saw her as an ideal candidate. She had a dream to get out of her small town and needed to make money for college tuition. She was vulnerable and innocent. And they took advantage of her in the worst possible way.

Naively, she was lured away from family and friends . . . and into a strip club. She quickly realized she was required to do more than just dance. Come see the movie and find what happens to Brianna. “Chosen” is appropriate for ages 12 and up, and it is our hope parents will accompany their youth to this screening and the “Let’s Talk About It” session to follow.

The Lake of the Ozarks Stop Human Trafficking Coalition is a volunteer organization working collaboratively to increase awareness, identify causes, and support victims of trafficking.

It invites the Lake area community to its monthly speaker program featuring survivors that will share their experiences of trafficking and escape, as well as expert speakers in the fields of psychology, legal issues, law enforcement, medical, and more.

Programs also focus on the causes of sexual exploitation and labor trafficking in the Lake area. Meetings are held the fourth Thursday of the month at St. George Episcopal Church, 423 N. Business Rt. 5, Camdenton, MO 65020.
