A Miller County deputy was injured in a motor vehicle crash overnight. It appears that the incident may have occurred during the pursuit of or search for a suspect in the Brumley area.

A Miller County deputy was injured in a motor vehicle crash overnight. It appears that the incident may have occurred during the pursuit of or search for a suspect in the Brumley area.

Caleb Shelton received injuries described as moderate in the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. The MSHP confirmed that Shelton is a deputy with Miller County.

According to the crash report, Shelton was driving a Dodge Dakota north on Colvin Loop when the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree south of Blackmer Road around 2:18 a.m. Aug. 1.

Shelton was transported by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment. 

The crash report indicated Shelton was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Dakota received extensive damage.

Following the crash, the MSHP assisted with the search, according to Sgt. Scott White. As of early Tuesday morning, the suspect had not been taken into custody. 

The details of the pursuit and search as well as information about the suspect are not currently available. 

At mid-morning Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Miller County Sheriff’s Office declined to release any information regarding the incident.
