An 87-year-old Camdenton woman suffered an unknown medical issue, fell into the water and drowned in the Lake of the Ozarks Thursday evening, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division incident report.

An 87-year-old Camdenton woman suffered an unknown medical issue, fell into the water and drowned in the Lake of the Ozarks Thursday evening, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division incident report. 

Ruth M. Claussen was discovered floating face down near a dock at approximately 5:46 p.m. on July 6, 2017 near the 16-mile marker of the Big Niangua. Next of kin has been notified. 

Dr. Michael Jones pronounced Claussen deceased at the scene at approximately 6:25 p.m. and the subject was transported to Allee-Holman-Howe funeral home in Camdenton. 

Claussen was not listed as wearing a safety device. 

This was the first drowning of July and fifth for Troop F in 2017.
