A 75-year-old St. Charles man drowned in Lake of the Ozarks Tuesday night near the 26-mile marker of the Osage Arm after he suffered a medical issue and fell into the water, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division drowning incident report. Next of kin has been notified.

A 75-year-old St. Charles man drowned in Lake of the Ozarks Tuesday night near the 26-mile marker of the Osage Arm after he suffered a medical issue and fell into the water, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division drowning incident report. Next of kin has been notified. 

Ed, or E D., Smith was located face down in the water near a sea wall at approximately 6:18 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 and pronounced dead at the scene by Camden County Coroner Wendy Pryor, according to the report. 

The incident was believed to have occurred at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017. A safety device was listed as exempt. Smith was taken to Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Camdenton. 

This was the fourth fatal drowning incident in Troop F for 2017.
