Multiple children and adults were taken to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment of minor and moderate injuries following a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 54 in Camden County Thursday evening.

Multiple children and adults were taken to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment of minor and moderate injuries following a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 54 in Camden County Thursday evening.

According to the crash report, Bethany N. Schmidt, 15, of Macks Creek was driving a 2016 Dodge Journey and pulled into the path of an eastbound 2007 Ford Windstar at Sunny Slope Drive. The SUV struck the minivan around 5:20 p.m. June 22.

Bethany Schmidt along with multiple other passengers in the SUV - Shawn M. Schmidt, 49, Leigha K. Jensen, 7, Karsyn E. Jensen, 6, and Brooklyn P. Jensen, 4, all of Macks Creek - received minor injuries. Faith K. Blanks, 26, of Macks Creek was also a passenger in the Dodge. She received injuries described as moderate in the crash report. Bethany Schmidt was taken by private conveyance to Lake Regional Hospital. The others from the SUV were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Ramon Esparza-Lopez, 56, of Camdenton was the driver of the minivan. He received injuries described as minor and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment.

The crash report indicated the occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts. Both vehicles were considered totaled.
