On June 18, 2017, law enforcement personnel with the Eldon Police Department and Miller County Sheriff's Office prevented a woman who was threatening to jump off a bridge on Highway 54, according to a press release from Eldon PD.

Officers were dispatched to the eastbound lane of Highway 54 in Eldon at an undisclosed time on Sunday regarding a female threatening to jump from the bridge over Highway M* from Highway 54.

According to the release, upon arrival Corporal Scott Patrick of the MCSO and Corporal Todd Warner of the Eldon PD attempted to talk with the female, but she would not allow anyone to approach her and all attempts to open a dialog failed.

"While attempting dialog the female began to move into a position, by turning over and letting her legs hang from the retaining wall saying 'I'm done, I don't want to do it anymore,'" the release stated. "At that point Det. Tamm and Cpl. Patrick then ran to the female, stopping her action of jumping from the bridge and pulled her to safety."

The female was taken into custody and transported from the scene. The release concluded that the female will remain unidentified to protect her privacy and ability to gain assistance.
