According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division boating incident report, Sarah E. Pressley of Jefferson City was a passenger on a 2016 Seadoo PWC being driven southbound by 32-year-old Demond A. Handley, also of Jefferson City when the incident occurred.

Both passenger and driver stood up attempting to board another vessel which caused the PWC to be flooded with water. This incident occurred at approximately 5:13 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017.

Pressley refused medical treatment at the scene, according to the report. Handley was not listed with any injuries. Both were listed as wearing safety devices.
