According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the northbound Chevrolet driven by John P. Garcia, 53, of Adrian, Mo. was stopped in traffic, and as the Kia came up behind it, Chappell reportedly looked down at his phone. The Kia ran into the Chevrolet.

A Lake Ozark man received minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 5 Thursday afternoon.

Jeremiah A. Chappell, 29, was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment.

He was the driver of a northbound 2014 Kia Optima that struck a 2000 Chevrolet 1500 about one-half mile north of Highway 7 in Camden County at 12:22 p.m. May 18.
