Setran, who purchased his ticket at Signal Food Store, 134 E. U.S. Highway 54 in Camdenton, redeemed what appeared to be a $3 winner at a different Lottery retail location.

Many Missouri Lottery Scratchers players prefer to play the bingo-inspired tickets for the extended time and process to play. William Setran of Sunrise Beach is one such player who favors the bingo games, especially the “Bingo Plus” ticket after one eventful weekend.

“I bought the ticket two Thursdays ago, and, for some reason, it just sat in my passenger seat for a day and a half,” said Setran.

“Saturday morning, I was sitting there with my morning coffee and playing it. I scratched it and saw that I had won $3, and I got distracted by something else. I thought, ‘Oh, well, I need to go down to the convenience store to get some gas and cigarettes. I could turn this in, too.’”

Setran, who purchased his ticket at Signal Food Store, 134 E. U.S. Highway 54 in Camdenton, redeemed what appeared to be a $3 winner at a different Lottery retail location.

“I jokingly tossed the ticket to the cashier and said, ‘I want some top-notch cigarettes with this big winner,’” continued Setran. “Apparently, I didn’t even take the time to finish scratching to realize how much I had won. That cashier turned and looked at me with her jaw dropped and big eyes.”

To Setran’s surprise, in addition to the $3 prize he uncovered at the top of the ticket, he also matched all numbers for an “X” pattern on the sixth play area at the bottom of the ticket, resulting in a $55,558 top prize.

“I almost always check over my tickets before cashing them, but I got distracted this time and just brought it in,” said Setran. “I mean, what are the chances?”

The Sunrise Beach resident plans to use his prize to purchase some land in the area for recreational use in the hopes of eventually building a cabin.
