An arrest has been made in a robbery northwest of Camdenton May 9 in which two women and children were reportedly held at knifepoint.

According to a press release from the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, a 24-year-old, white male from the Camdenton area was arrested on the afternoon of May 10 in conjunction with the robbery.

The suspect is being held in the Camden County Detention Center, and a probable cause affidavit is being prepared. The name of the suspect is being withheld pending formal charges.  

The incident took place at a residence on Claremont Ridge Road in Camden County Tuesday morning. One of the women involved in the incident - Tina Marie Griffin - took to Facebook shortly afterwards to issue a callout to the public through a Facebook Live video to help find the suspect. She described the suspect and what she said occurred, including trying to take the knife from the man and fighting him off when he tried to take her cell phone.

According to a previous press release from the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, their communications center received a 911 call in reference to the incident northwest of Camdenton around 10:35 a.m. May 9.

The press release stated a female occupant of the residence was inside while a female friend and children were outside. A male subject, driving an early 2000 model dark grey 4-door sedan, drove into the driveway and approached the female in the yard. He was said to be brandishing an unknown type of knife.

The suspect - described as a white male wearing a stocking cap and a dark colored bandana handkerchief - demanded money from the victim #1. While Victim #1 had no money, according to the press release, the suspect took a cell phone from her. The suspect then took Victim #1 into the residence where Victim #2 and the children were located. A teenager ran from the residence, entered her vehicle and left the area, returning sometime later, the press release stated.

The suspect asked Victim #2 for money. According to Victim #2, she attempted to grab the knife from the suspect. The suspect attempted to grab a cell phone from Victim #2, then left the residence in the aforementioned vehicle. Victim #1′s phone was discarded and found in the yard of a neighbor.

Initial information is that the suspect was a white male, possibly 18 to 20 years of age, 5′10" – 6′, approximately 160 to 170 pounds, blue eyes, freckles and possibly sandy brown hair. The suspect was reported to be wearing a purple and tan shirt, blue zip up hoodie and baggy tan pants.

No one was injured.
