A male subject, driving an early 2000 model dark grey 4-door sedan, drove into the driveway and approached the female in the yard. He was said to be brandishing an unknown type of knife.

Police are looking for a young white male suspect in an apparent attempted robbery at a residence on Claremont Ridge Road in Camden County in which two women and children were held up at knifepoint Tuesday morning.

One of the women involved in the incident - Tina Marie Griffin - took to Facebook shortly afterwards to issue a callout to the public through a Facebook Live video to help find the suspect. She describes the suspect and what she says occurred. It is shown below.

According to a press release from the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, their communications center received a 911 call in reference to the incident northwest of Camdenton around 10:35 a.m. May 9. 

The press release stated a female occupant of the residence was inside while a female friend and children were outside. A male subject, driving an early 2000 model dark grey 4-door sedan, drove into the driveway and approached the female in the yard. He was said to be brandishing an unknown type of knife.  

The suspect - described as a white male wearing a stocking cap and a dark colored bandana handkerchief - demanded money from the victim #1. While Victim #1 had no money, according to the press release, the suspect took a cell phone from her. The suspect then took Victim #1 into the residence where Victim #2 and the children were located. A teenager ran from the residence, entered her vehicle and left the area, returning sometime later, the press release stated. 

The suspect asked Victim #2 for money. According to Victim #2, she attempted to grab the knife from the suspect. The suspect attempted to grab a cell phone from Victim #2, then left the residence in the aforementioned vehicle. Victim #1’s phone was discarded and found in the yard of a neighbor.  

Initial information is that the suspect was a white male, possibly 18 to 20 years of age, 5’10” – 6’, approximately 160 – 170 pounds, blue eyes, freckles and possibly sandy brown hair.  The suspect was reported to be wearing a purple and tan shirt, blue zip up hoodie and baggy tan pants.

No one was injured. Anyone with information should contact local police or the sheriff’s department.
