Two Lake Ozark men were seriously injured in a UTV crash on private property in the Eldon area Sunday evening when the 2016 Yamaha Viking they were riding in overturned. The driver of the UTV was arrested on multiple charges.

Two Lake Ozark men were seriously injured in a UTV crash on private property in the Eldon area Sunday evening when the 2016 Yamaha Viking they were riding in overturned. The driver of the UTV was arrested on multiple charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Steven W. Sakelaris, 47, of Lake Ozark and Christopher M. Havner, 44, of Lake Ozark were both passengers in a UTV operating at 14 Golf Course Road, Eldon. Suffering injuries described as serious in the report, both men were taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred around 5:12 p.m. May 7 when operator Lance P. Burns, 42, of Eldon was eastbound on private property. According to the crash report, Burns was operating the UTV in a careless and imprudent manner. The UTV overturned, causing damage and injury to the passengers.

Burns was not injured. 

At 5:54 p.m., Burns was arrested by a trooper on two counts of driving while intoxicated with serious physical injury, improper operation of a utility vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner endangering person or property and unlawful operated utility vehicle under influence of alcohol. He was placed on a 24-hour hold. 

None of the men were utilizing safety devices.
