I applaud the county commissioners approving a request for state audit. It is the professional thing to do for a First Class County that has not had an audit in quite some time.

That is the good news. The rest of the story is once the audit is done, fixing what is not going so well, and measuring performance against objective needs to be done.

I understand this audit may cost up to or over $150,000 taxpayer dollars. This is nothing to sneeze at.

The money is going to be spent! The commissioner as well as the rest of county government needs to assure taxpayers, that what the audit uncovers will be adjusted and fixed and something will be put in place to keep things fixed.

Saying you are fixing what is found and then just letting the fix free run reminds me of Nixon merging the Higway Patrol and Water Patrol, and then just letting it free run into chaos!

I have confidence our county government wants to do the right thing! And the best way to accomplish that is once adjustments are made, there needs to be monitoring for proper operation, and adjusted as needed, to assure the intent of the findings of the audit are met.

Once again, I applaud the county commissioners and the citizens who got this state audit request going!
