A driver and passenger both from Osage Beach suffered moderate injuries trying to avoid an object in the roadway, running of the left side of the road and colliding with a ditch Friday evening, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

Raquel Arellano Ayala, 37, of Osage Beach, was driving a 2003 Lincoln Navigator with nine-year-old, Alssasa M. Ayala as a passenger at approximately 5:30 p.m. on April 14, 2017 when the crash occurred.

According to the report, the Navigator was driving westbound on US 54, roughly 58-feet west of Capewood Drive, when the vehicle attempted to avoid an object in the road. The vehicle ran off the left side of the road and collided with a ditch.

Further investigation revealed the object was dropped from a trailer being pulled by a 2010 GMC Yukon driven by John B. Schulte, 62, of Edwardsville, IL.

The Ayalas were transported by Mercy EMS to Lake Regional Hospital. Schulte was not listed with any injuries.

Both drivers and passenger were listed as wearing seat belts.
