A 2000 Rinker's engine compartment caught fire Saturday morning while the 27-foot cabin cruiser was underway on the Gravois Arm of the Lake of the Ozarks, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division boat incident report.

A 2000 Rinker's engine compartment caught fire Saturday morning while the 27-foot cabin cruiser was underway on the Gravois Arm of the Lake of the Ozarks, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division boat incident report. 

The operator of the boat, Rodney Gvillo, 51, of Bunker Hill, IL., was able to put the fire out with an extinguisher. 

The fire occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. while the vessel was heading downstream at the 0.5-mile marker of the Gravois Arm on Saturday, April 8, 2017, according to the report. 

Injury information for this incident is unavailable, but Gvillo was listed as not wearing a safety device and the vessel described as moderately damaged, towed by private party to a dock.
