At least two suspects are being sought for questioning in connection with a burglary reported at the Osage Beach Premium Outlet shortly after midnight Thursday.
Osage Beach Police Chief Dave Severson said officers responded to an alarm call at the Perfumania store around 12:44 a.m. where burglars had cut a hole in the roof to gain entry into the store.
Severson said the alarm may have been triggered when the burglars cut the telephone and power lines leading into the store.
According to Severson, they cut through the plywood, tarpaper and metal supports in the roof. They then used a rope ladder to drop down into the store where they attempted to disable the alarm.
In the six minutes that elapsed between the time the alarm was triggered and police arrived, the burglars fled the building.
They left behind an assortment of tools, several sets of footprints and blood from where at least one suspect is believed to have cut their hand as they were going down the ladder into the store.
An inventory turned up no missing merchandise. The alarm may have scared them off before they got around to lifting any of the inventory, Severson said. Roof jobs are rare.
They tend to take quite a bit of time and effort.
Evidence that has been sent to the Missouri Highway Patrol crime lab for analysis indicates there were at least two if not three suspects involved, he said.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Osage Beach Police Department.
