A town hall meeting to discuss the transition to digital television will be held from 7-8 p.m. Feb. 5 in Strong Hall on the Missouri State University campus.
Representatives from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), as well as the major network affiliate stations in Springfield, will be available to answer questions regarding the transition.
The meeting will consist of a panel discussion of the transition, as well as a question and answer session to give viewers a chance to raise their questions and concerns.
The FCC’s Washington D.C., office will be represented by William Freedman, associate bureau chief; Nick Degami, DTV coordinator; and Sue Gilgenbach, DTV Transition Team. The FCC Kansas City field office will be represented by Bob McKinney and Andrew Neilson. Local panelists will also take part.
Though the date for the transition has been the subject of recent debate and legislation, the FCC and broadcasters are continuing efforts to prepare viewers to make the switch.
Broadcasters continue to emphasize the importance of early preparation, reminding viewers that a change in television viewing is coming soon and it is imperative that people take action to ensure continuation of their television services.
