Not only were the Laquey Hornets coming into town as a larger-division opponent, they were also a good one.
The 12-2 Hornets were ranked No. 8 in Class 2, and while the Climax Springs Cougars have shown they're a completely different team than last year – few would have expected a victory for the home team.
But that's exactly what happened, as the Cougars pulled out a 49-46 win over the Hornets.
Dillion Danforth led Climax Springs with 14, while Ethan Baxter added 12.
Michael Buerge scored 9 for a Cougars team that knocked down 5-of-9 3-pointers.
Climax Springs is now 8-3 on the season, and is riding a 5-game winning streak as they get set to take on Fair Play tonight.
