The Camdenton Lady Lakers put on a great performance on the defensive end of the court Monday night, but they couldn't muster enough offense to take down a good West Plains team in a 37-30 loss.

The Lady Zizzers jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first quarter, but Camdenton fought back to cut the lead to four at halftime.

West Plains again came out aggressively in the third quarter, but the Lakers didn't let the game get out of hand, keeping the score 25-19 going into the final period.

As they turned up the heat on the press in the fourth quarter, they were finally able to force West Plains into a few turnovers, and they found themselves down just three as the Zizzers called a time out with 2:31 to play.

West Plains would get the lead back up to seven with less than a minute to play, but Camdenton came down and got a quick 3-pointer from Nickie Branting to cut the lead to four with about 40 seconds to play.

That was as close as they'd get, however, as they fell to 7-4 (0-1) on the season.

Camdenton was led by Haley Baker with 10 points. Branting scored eight and Jessica Colliver added seven.

West Plains was led by Andi Haney and Haley Menz, who each scored 11.

Camdenton will be back in action tomorrow at Eldon at 6 p.m.
