The Lake of the Ozarks Woodcarvers Club meets the third Monday of every month at 7 p.m.. at the Camdenton United Methodist Church. Beginners are welcome.

The Lake of the Ozarks Woodcarvers Club has a mini-seminar once each month before the meeting in order to have a hands-on project to keep everyone carving. It is taught by the club’s own member, Jim Long.

Long lives in Osage Beach and has been carving since 1985 and teaching for several years.

In June, Long taught a pelican carving class and gave one-on-one instruction on the tools to use and in carving out the shape, the eyes, beak, and wings of the pelican.

He also carves caricatures including hobos, bottle-stoppers, and especially Santa’s. He and his wife, Ann, turn out beautiful projects. He carves, and she paints.
