An audition will be held for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “Beauty Lou and the Country Beast” Monday, July 17, at CHRIST The King Lutheran Church, 1700 Bagnell Dam Blvd., Lake Ozark.
An audition will be held for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “Beauty Lou and the Country Beast” Monday, July 17, at CHRIST The King Lutheran Church, 1700 Bagnell Dam Blvd., Lake Ozark. (NOTE: this is a new location for the audition) Please, arrive in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30 a.m. for registration.
The audition will start promptly at 10:00 a.m. and continue until noon. Many of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal at the church immediately following the audition.
All other rehearsals from Tuesday thru Saturday and the performances will be held in the Camdenton Middle School Little Theater in Camdenton.
Those rehearsal times plus workshops will be determined by the Actor and Director of the Theatre Company and will be announced at the end of the audition.
Approximately 50-60 roles are available. All students, entering first grade in the fall through grades 12, are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Most students rehearse approximately four and a half hours each day.
Among the roles to be cast are Beauty Lou, Imaginary Friend, Beast, Dusty and Slim the farmhands, Fleabite Clyde the dog, the Younger Daughters, the Older Daughters, the Country Folk and the Barnyard Critters.
Assistant Directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities. The MCT touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup.
The seven day residency program will be conducted by the MCT Touring Actors and Directors, Kady Nordstrom and Bethany Mansfield.
Nordstrom is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting at the University of Montana in Missoula. Mansfield attends Anderson University (South Carolina School of the Arts) and is working towards her BFA degree in musical theatre.
Two performances are scheduled for July 22 at 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Camdenton Middle School Little Theater, 172 Dare Boulevard, in Camdenton.
Beauty Lou and the Country Beast is a part of the Missoula Children’s Theatre unique international touring project and is presented at the Lake of the Ozarks by the Lake Arts council. For more information call the Lake Arts Council at 573-964-6366.
