Mid County Fire Protection District, 148 N. Highway 5 in Camdenton will host the newly revised AARP Driver Safety Course on Tuesday, June 23 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. (Registration by June 17 is suggested.)
The course has recently been changed to one 4 hour class, and the evening schedule will give seniors who are still employed the opportunity to attend.
Formerly called 55 Alive, the course was developed by AARP to assist seniors in recognizing and compensating for age related physical changes, sharpening driving skills, preventing accidents, and keeping older drivers on the road longer and more safely. Several auto insurance carriers offer premium discounts to graduates of the course. Drivers should check with their insurance agent to see if such a discount is available.
The class will be limited to 25 people, and pre-registration is necessary. A cost- recovery fee of $12 for AARP members or $14 for non-members applies. For information or to register, contact Gene Scheiter, instructor at 346-2442. AARP members should have their AARP member number available when they register.
