The City of Laurie public works department will perform water system maintenance on Thursday, July 2. With assistance from the Gravois Fire Protection District, chlorine will be introduced into the water tower to be distributed throughout the water system.
"Even though customers may notice a chlorine taste or order, the level of chlorine will not exceed DNR recommended allowable amounts," said Ed Young, public works director.
The amount of chlorine in the system could, however, cause harm to fish or other animals highly susceptibel to chlorine, he added. He recommends water customers take appropriate steps to protect their animals.
