Today the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission approved the addition of 13 new resurfacing projects to the 2010-2014 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program.

The projects are a result of the positive bidding environment the Missouri Department of Transportation has seen through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

“Statewide, we’ve seen bids on ARRA-funded projects come in about 10 percent under budget,” said MoDOT District Planning Manager Mike Dusenberg. “In Central Missouri, that means we have about $5 million we can redirect back into our roadways.

“We’re targeting those funds toward resurfacing work that can be obligated by the ARRA deadlines and bring the economic benefit to as many communities as possible.”
The 13 resurfacing projects are spread across the mid-Missouri area and include:

Route 87 in Miller County, from Salem Road to Route 54 in Eldon.

Route CC in Miller County, from Salem Road to Route 52 in Eldon.

Interstate 70 Outer Road in Boone County, from Route E to the end of state maintenance in Columbia.

Route KK in Boone County, from Route K to the end of state maintenance in Columbia.

Route WW in Boone and Callaway Counties, from North Fork Creek in Boone County to Route J in Callaway County.

Route ZZ in Boone County, from Route TT to I-70 Drive SW in Columbia.

Westbound U.S. Route 54 in Callaway County, from Holts Summit to the Missouri River Bridge.

U.S. Route 54 in Cole County, from the Missouri River Bridge to just west of Stadium Blvd. in Jefferson City, including the ramps at the tri-level interchange.

Westbound U.S. Route 50 in Cole County, from just west of Truman Blvd. to Business Route 50 in Apache Flats.

Route 87 in Cooper County, from I-70 to Main Street in Boonville.

Route 765 in Pettis County, from railroad tracks to U.S. Route 65 in Sedalia.

Route P in Pettis County, at various locations within the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia.

Route Y in Pettis County, from west of U.S. Route 65 to Quisenberry Road in Sedalia.

These ARRA projects, combined with additional minor road resurfacing funded with MoDOT operations dollars, equal an additional 112 miles of roadway to be resurfaced in Central Missouri at a cost of $8.4 million.
