Several homeowners who already paid the fees to connect to the Camelot Sewer system are still waiting for service they’ve paid for but not received.
Due to an engineering glitch, the homes were not included when the lines were installed, leaving them to depend on septic systems to handle their wastewater while their neighbors are hooked up to a central wastewater treatment plant that serves the development north of Camdenton.
The homeowners voted on the issue, paid the assessments and assumed they would be able to hook up when the project was completed. When that didn’t happen, they contacted the county.
It is just one more problem for the project that has been beset with time delays, contractor squabbles and funding issues.
According to information provided by Camden County commissioners, it may cost more than $100,000 to hook the homes up to the system. The county is looking at funding options.
The project was completed this summer.
