An 88-year-old Eldon woman died in a car accident Wednesday after the vehicle she was a passenger in was broadsided by another vehicle.
Clara E. Schulte was a passenger in a 2000 Ford Focus at the time of the accident, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's report. The Focus was being driven by 76-year-old Naomi Jenkins, of Tuscumbia.
According to the report, the accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday as Jenkins was attempting to make a left-hand turn at the intersection of Route 52 and VFW Road in Miller County. Jenkins turned into the path of a 2005 Chevrolet that was being driven by Tina D. Murphy, 40 of Linn Creek.
Murphy broadsided the vehicle Schulte and Jenkins were in.
Schulte was pronounced at the scene.
Jenkins was transported to University Medical Center in Columbia by helicopter with serious injuries. Murphy sustained moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Lake Regional Health Systems in Osage Beach.
All three women were wearing their seat belts.
