With a crowd of more than 20 people, the Camdenton City Police Department hosted a demonstration with their new K-9 duo, Eros and Sgt. Jeff Beauchamp at City Hall Monday evening.
During Beauchamp's presentation, he explained and demonstrated how Eros was trained and showed off his sniff-'em-out skills.
"I've hidden two bags of marijuana throughout the room," he said. "Now he'll search for it by smelling the areas we think it might be."
On command, Eros began smelling various locations around the room and picked up a scent near the doorway of City Hall. When he was certain of the location, he sat down and pointed his nose at the item.
At the end of the search and seizure, the audience was invited to refreshments, which included a cake with the friendly canine's picture on it, welcoming him to the force.
