According to a news release sent out by the Missouri Department of Transportation Thursday, the state has lost $202 million in federal funding.
The department revealed that money for state and local roads, bridges and other transportation improvement projects was lost because Congress decided not to repeal a rescission built into the last federal transportation act.
MoDOT director Pete Rahn said in the release that that rescission will impact many of its projects and those of its partners.
"We have completed our calculation of specific project types affected and have passed along the bad news to (our partners),” he said. “This decrease in federal funding will further jeopardize our ability to create jobs, provide a safer transportation system and continue improving roads and bridges.”
