According to a press release Friday afternoon from the Mid County Fire District chief, Scott Frandsen, the district was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 60 Stealth Cove Drive off of State Route AA in Roach in the early morning hours.
At approximately 3 a.m. Jan. 22, units arrived to find a two-story residence with a significant fire located in a crawl space, according to the release. It went on to say:
"The crews made an interior attack and rapidly brought the fire under control. The fire had extended to the upstairs living area which was also rapidly brought under control. Mid County responded with one engine and three tankers and was assisted on the scene by an engine from the Camdenton Fire Department.
"Investigation revealed that the fire started in a small heater placed in the crawl space to keep the pipes thawed. The owner was awakened by his smoke detectors that had sounded as a result of the fire. Damage was contained to the crawl space, an exterior wall and an upstairs bathroom."
The chief reported that there were no injuries and the fire units cleared the scene a little after 5 a.m.
