Arthur D. Wayland, 53, of Olean was cited for careless and imprudent driving involving a crash and assigned a future court date in Miller County.  He was not arrested or taken to jail, and alcohol or drug impairment were not factors in the crash.
The accident occurred in Eldon on Monday afternoon.
Wayland, driving a pickup truck, rear-ended Bus 28 around 3:20 p.m. Aug. 31 as it was stopped in the eastbound lane on East 4th Street at Short Street, according to the Highway Patrol crash report. The bus was stationary as it was preparing to discharge students, the report states.
The crash resulted in minor injuries for five students ranging in age from five to 14 - including Nicholas A. Martin, 5, Kyler T. Wilson, 11, Nakeena R. Cotten, 12, Kayla A. Brewer, 14, and Jayden L. Douglas, 14. All of the students injured were from Olean.
The driver of the school bus was Mark D. Beauchamp, 33, of Eldon.
Wayland received moderate injuries in the accident, and was treated at the scene and released, the crash report states.
The five children were transported by ambulance to Lake Regional.
