  • Residents of the Eldon R-I School District will continue to pay the same tax levy as they have in the past three years this upcoming school year.
During the August 18 meeting of the Eldon Board of Education, the board approved keeping the tax levy at the existing rate of $3.54 per $100 of assessed valuation.
According to Superintendent Matt Davis, it breaks down to be $3.03 of operating levy and 51 cents of debt service levy.
Davis added that the Board made the decision based on several factors including an increase in assessed valuation, the success of the No Tax Increase Bond issue last April and the fact that the district is in a strong financial situation.
The no tax increase bond issue passed during the April election paved the way for various construction projects in the district including a new safe room and other various renovations.
"Construction is going great.  We plan on pouring the floor for the safe room next week.  We are continuing to meet the architect for the Fine Arts renovation," Davis said.
