  • Lake Regional Cancer Center has earned re-accreditation with gold-level commendation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. Accreditation is granted only to facilities that have voluntarily committed to provide the best in cancer diagnosis and treatment and comply with established CoC standards.
“National re-accreditation of our cancer program affirms the high level of comprehensive cancer care available at Lake Regional,” said Michael E. Henze, chief executive officer at Lake Regional Health System. “Our expert team of physicians and nurses work continuously to ensure our patients receive the best care.”
To achieve accreditation, cancer programs must demonstrate they offer a complete range of diagnostic and treatment services with the highest level of skill and quality through a rigorous on-site survey. Lake Regional’s program met or exceeded 26 of 26 applicable standards and received commendation on seven of seven applicable categories.
As a CoC-accredited program, Lake Regional Cancer Center demonstrates an important commitment to providing all patients with access to services such as: comprehensive, patient-centered care through a multidisciplinary team approach; access to information on clinical trials and new treatment options; ongoing monitoring of care and lifelong patient follow-up; psycho-social support and survivorship care; and continuous quality improvements in patient care.
Established by the American College of Surgeons in 1992, the multidisciplinary CoC is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard-setting, prevention, research, education and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care.
Lake Regional Cancer Center provides comprehensive cancer care close to home for lake-area residents. The center offers a range of services to treat the whole person, — not just the disease. These services include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, nutrition therapy, palliative care, support groups and educational classes. Although LRCC treats many types of cancer, the center commonly treats bladder, breast, colon, lung, lymphoma and prostate cancers.
Lake Regional Health System provides comprehensive health care services to the residents and visitors of the lake area. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and is a three-time recipient of the Missouri Quality Award. Lake Regional also operates primary care, urgent care, specialty and rehab therapy clinics, retail pharmacies and home health services throughout the lake area.
