  • The Lake of the Ozarks is the perfect place for travelers to celebrate the end of summer with a bang on Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30-Sept. 1.  Fireworks, live music and end-of-season sales add to the Lake's usual blend of fun on both water and land.
After a day of fun in the sun, Saturday night, Aug. 30, explodes with a live performance by Grand Funk Railroad, followed by fireworks, at Shawnee Bluff Vineyards, near Eldon.  This performance is just one from an impressive summer series that featured acts including Diamond Rio, Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan, Exile, and 3 Dog Night.  The final show of the year will be Oct. 18 featuring the Gatlin Brothers.  For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.shawneebluffvineyards.com.  More fireworks light up the night in Sunrise Beach at Bear Bottom Resort.  Learn more at www.bearbottomresort.com
On Sunday, two of the lake's premier resorts are sure to bring "oohs" and "aahs" with their fireworks displays over the Lake.   Tan-Tar-A Resort invites lake visitors and residents to view their fireworks display by water at the 26-mile marker.  Viewing opportunities on the resort property are for guests only. For more information, call 573-348-3131. A barbeque and carnival will be held on the grounds at The Lodge of Four Seasons, followed by fireworks.  Visitors not staying at the resort may enjoy the festivities as well, but must arrive before 8 p.m.  The event is $22 for adults and $12 for children over age 5 for non-guests.  The fireworks can also be viewed by water at the 13-mile marker.  Call 573-365-3000 for more information.
Those who would like to see the Labor Day fireworks in style can reserve a spot on the Tropic Island or Celebration luxury cruise yachts.  Make reservations by calling the Tropic Island at 573-348-0083 or the Celebration at 573-480-3212.
Many lake-area shops and stores are ending the summer with sales, so visitors should allow time to go to Osage Beach Premium Outlets or one of the many specialty shops along the historic Bagnell Dam Strip or in shopping areas like Stone Crest Mall or The Landing on Main Street.
"We are excited to host numerous firework shows on and off the water to enhance the visitor experience this Labor Day weekend at the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks," said Tim Jacobsen, Director of the Lake of the Ozarks Convention and Visitor Bureau.
"We want everyone to have a safe and fun weekend celebration. And, if our guests plan to be out on the water, we want to remind them to please wear life jackets and always designate a captain."
Following the Labor Day celebrations, the Lake of the Ozarks has many more exciting events on the horizon. "We have numerous festivals and activities in the fall to accompany any trip to the Lake," continued Jacobsen. "Such as the 8th Annual Bikefest, 4th Annual Air Show, 29th Annual Turkey Festival, 34th Annual Apple Festival and 29th Annual Fall Harbor Hop, just to name a few."
