What's hot now: Summer may be winding down, but now is the time to find some great deals. Plus as we head into fall, the market offers an assortment of fun outdoor items for autumn and Halloween, including pumpkins, mums, scarecrows and witches.

  • With more than 16 years of business at the Lake of the Ozarks, Sunrise Farm Market has evolved from a simple fresh fruit and vegetable stand to one of the best reasons to visit the Westside with its array of fun yard art and other unique finds.
The seasonal roadside business at 14539 N. State Highway 5 in Sunrise Beach offers outdoor items that you won't find in any box store — or anywhere else in the lake area for that matter. Co-owner Bess Wood says if it's going to be sold somewhere else in the area, she doesn't buy it for the store so that she can offer truly unique items.
The two open air buildings that make up the main part of Sunrise Farm Market pop with the profusion of color from the many fun and quirky decorative items alongside the vibrant hues of summer-fresh fruits and vegetables.
From metal flying pigs, roosters and signs to chimineas, pottery and arbors and much more, if you shop at Sunrise Farm Market, your yard and gardens are sure to stand out.
And that's in addition to their food products. The market offers local fruits and vegetables — some of the juiciest tomatoes around — as well as pies homemade by Mennonites in the region and other specialty food products.
There are no similar businesses or products to compare to Sunrise Farm Market, says Bess. She and husband Mike decided to open a business at the lake after doing home and garden shows and trade shows for some time.
Mike is originally from the lake, growing up in Osage Beach.
With Sunrise Farm Market, they got to offer the home and garden items and fruits all in one place for the summer.

    Local honey
For those who believe that local honey helps with allergies, Sunrise Farm Market also sells honey from a Missouri bee farm. In addition to allergies, it is a natural sweetener and energy booster. It's unique taste adds a special touch to recipes, but you can also use it to boost your own beauty and skin care products. According to the National Honey Board, honey is a humectant - naturally attracting and retaining moisture. Add a squeeze of honey to your regular moisturizer, soap or shampoo for extra moisturizer or use as a base to to create your own. Honey also has natural antimicrobial qualities and has been used for centuries as a natural cough suppressant.
