  • Lake Regional OB/GYN welcomes Mona Afrassiab, D.O.

  • Mona Afrassiab, D.O., joined Lake Regional Obstetrics and Gynecology on Aug. 1. Dr. Afrassiab, who is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, joins Becky Simpson, M.D., FACOG, at the clinic.
     “We are pleased to welcome Dr. Afrassiab to Lake Regional,” said Peter Rao, executive director of Lake Regional Medical Group. “Our community is growing, and so is the demand for maternity care. Dr. Afrassiab is an experienced physician who listens to her patients and values their input in birthing plans. We believe she is an excellent addition to our medical staff.”
     Afrassiab is a graduate of the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. She completed residency training at Truman Medical Center West and Saint Luke’s Hospital, which are located in Kansas City, Mo., and affiliated with the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine.
     Before joining Lake Regional, Afrassiab worked at Moberly Regional Medical Center for more than 10 years. She also served as an assistant clinical professor at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine for five years.
     “I joined Lake Regional because I was looking for a hospital that values obstetrics and women’s health,” Dr. Afrassiab said. “This hospital and its birth center has exceptional employees who are enthusiastic about women’s care. I am happy to be a part of that and a part of this wonderful community.”
     Afrassiab and her husband, Bruce, have two daughters. In her free time, she enjoys wood sculpture and carving. The family is looking forward to living at the Lake of the Ozarks and its many opportunities to explore nature.
