Owned Schmidty’s Tiki Bar in Lake Ozark

Rick ”Schmidty” John Schmidt, 44, of Rocky Mount passed away, Thursday, August 7, 2014 at his home. He was born on February 9, 1970 in Kansas City, MO the son of Alvin and Odelia (Groner) Schmidt. He was a 1988 graduate of Blair Oaks High School.

Rick was the owner/operator of Schmidty’s Tiki Bar in Lake Ozark, MO. “Schmidty” enjoyed spending his time with his Lake Ozark family and friends whether it was boating on the Lake, or having a cocktail at one of his favorite Lake Spots. “Schmidty” was always the life of the party; he loved to tell stories and jokes. Nobody was a stranger; he always greeted you with a hand shake or a hug, and you can bet with “Schmidty’s” “Chris Farley” like humor you would end up with a nickname! “Schmidty” also enjoyed riding four wheelers, racing RC boats and his collection of “toys” but most of all he was especially fond of his 1976 Red Chevy Camaro. Rick was an avid animal lover, he loved is four dogs: Divit, Scrappy, Shelby and Titos.

Rick is survived by his parents: Alvin and Odelia; one son: Cory Schmidt of Rocky Mount; one sister: Gail (Tim) Foerster of Rapid City, South Dakota; one brother: Alan (Pam) Schmidt of Osage Bend, MO, 3 nieces; 1 nephew; special friends: Scott (Teresa) Camby, Rick (Carla) Huffman, Mike Powell, Dave Scott, Dave Brown, Keith Hayes, Jeff Volmert, and many other Lake, and Jefferson City area friends.

Friends were received from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2014, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. in Jefferson City, MO and 9:00 a.m.-9:45 a.m. at St. Margaret of Antioch Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2014, at St. Margaret of Antioch Catholic Church with Fr. Ignazio C. Medina officiating. Interment will follow in St. Margaret of Antioch Catholic Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Margaret of Antioch Catholic Church.
