California-based Wawona Packing Co. has issued a voluntary recall of some tree-ripened stone fruits sold at Dierbergs Markets.
California-based Wawona Packing Co. has issued a voluntary recall of some tree-ripened stone fruits. The recall includes conventional and organic varieties of yellow peaches and nectarines, white peaches and nectarines, plums and pluots for the possibility of being contaminated with listeria.
No illnesses are reported and Wawona is issuing this recall as a precautionary voluntary measure.
Dierbergs Markets sources its California Tree-Ripened Fruits through Wawona and is responding by pulling all recalled product from its sales floors.
The recall does not include Missouri-grown peaches or any of Dierbergs locally grown fruits or vegetables.
Customers who purchased the California products named in the recall from Dierbergs between Monday, July 14 and noon Saturday, July 19, can return them to any Dierbergs location for a full refund.
Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in certain vulnerable populations including young children, the elderly or those with weak immune systems. Pregnant women are also considered to be at risk.
