  • For at least three hours in the wee morning of Monday, the intersection at the square in Camdenton was completely shut down after a semi full of turkey waste spilled, covering the roadway.  A foul smell filled the air while the waste was cleaned up.
The driver of the truck slammed on his brakes instead of attempting to turn when the light turned yellow around 2:58 a.m. When he braked, the open bed truck — which was only covered with a tarp — spilled it's contents: turkey waste including unused parts of the animal.
The Camdenton Police Department, Camdenton Fire Department, Missouri Department of Transportation, Mid County Fire Protection District and the Camden County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene.
The accident was cleaned up around 6:30 a.m. after the entire area was hosed down and the drains were flushed out.
According to officials who were on the scene, the odor of the waste can still lingers in the air near the Camdenton square.
