  • An alleged attack at a popular water front venue over the July 4 holiday weekend is being investigated by the Camden County Sheriff's Department as a possible sexual assault.
    The incident occurred early Sunday morning, July 6 at a venue on Horseshoe Bend in Lake Ozark.
    Three female victims were allegedly attacked by a group of four to six men as they were getting in their car to leave. Their car was reportedly parked in close proximity to the front of the venue. One of victims/witnesses told the Lake Sun that security guards overheard one of them screaming and rushed over to them causing the alleged attackers to flee the scene.
    The victims told the Lake Sun that the alleged suspects spoke a foreign language. All three victims were taken by ambulance from the scene.
    The three Jefferson City residents were in the lake area for the night. Two of the victims had reportedly been drinking. The third who is three months pregnant was sober and acting as designated driver.
    The Camden County Sheriff's Department is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Detective Keith Vance at 573-346-2243.
