Eldon prepares to throw annual Independence Day blast

Three event highlights

1  Eldon knows how to throw a party, and the annual Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration will be held this Friday with a wide variety of events planned in the downtown area.

2  A parade will be held at 10 a.m. downtown, with activities in the Eldon City Park during the day. A 5K run starts at 8 a.m. Vendors will be at the park from noon-8 p.m. The city pool will be open with special pricing. A pet show is from 1-2 p.m. Old fashioned carnival games will be from 2-5 p.m. The Jason Earl Band will perform from 5-9 p.m. and fireworks are at dusk.

3  The schedule:
Independence 5K: Starts in front of Eldon Pool - Registration at 7 a.m. Run/Walk starts at 7:30 a.m.
Parade at 10 a.m.
Vendors: Noon - 8 p.m.
1/2 Price Pool Session: Noon - 3 p.m.
Pet Show: 1 - 2 p.m.
Old Fashioned Carnival Games: 2 - 5 p.m.
Jason Earl Band: 5 - 9 p.m.
Fireworks at Dusk
