  • Chef Robert Sills believes fresh food is the very foundation of an extraordinary dining experience. At Savannah Grille, Sills’ passion for the freshest-possible ingredients has been combined with a panoramic lake view and impeccable service. The result—one of the lake’s most popular new restaurants.
When Sills and his wife, Kristine, daughter of lake realtors Mark and Kathy Beeler, relocated to Lake of the Ozarks in 2010, he was engaged to open two restaurants, both of which enjoyed instant success.
Now, he is bringing his focus on farm-to-plate produce, extraordinary entrées and superlative desserts to his own restaurant, Savannah Grille.
Sills graduated the Culinary Institute of Charleston before following his interest in fine food to Italy where he studied at the Culinary Institute of Florence.
He honed his skills in the upscale restaurant kitchens of Charleston, S.C., home to some of the most progressive food trends, and got solid event experience at the renown annual Wine and Food Festival.
Sills is as comfortable with chocolate as he is with pasta, vegetables, meats and seafood.
Savannah Grille’s menu, with its wide variety and strong coastal cuisine influence, reflects Sills’ background and his vision of interesting food well presented. The coastal theme of the Savannah Grille menu is in keeping with much of Sills’ formal training.
“I love the flavors and interesting presentations that abound in places like Savannah and Charleston,” he said.
The Savannah Grille features dishes that will be familiar to those who have visited the gentle shores of the southeast. Sills has combined shrimp and grits, a southern staple, with andouille sausage, roasted tomatoes and peppers to create one of Savannah Grille’s most popular entrées. Flounder, trout and venison have been given delicate new treatments. For the more traditional diner, a different cut of locally-grown beef is featured each day. Exceptional cheeses from area farms join oysters fresh from the cold waters of Washington State on a menu that changes seasonally. The overall effect of Sill’s menu selections is an interesting dining experience.
Savannah Grille offers ambiance, panoramic Lake views and impeccable service.
Sills, who started his restaurant career as a busboy, believes that professional service is key to enjoying good food.
“Great service is an element of dining that is too often overlooked. We want to provide a comfortable environment for our guests and our staff is tasked with giving our guests the attention they deserve,” Sills said.
The completely remolded Savannah Grille brings the view to every table and the bar area.
“We wanted to create a space that incorporates the Lake and the view,” Sills says. “We worked to give the restaurant a comfortable feeling from the outdoor mezzanine to our private-dining areas.”
Page 2 of 2 - Sills welcomes private parties of all kinds from that special birthday to company events. “We can make an occasion very special with our wine list, food selections and willingness to go the extra mile for our guests,” Sills says. “We look upon private parties as a chance to do something meaningful for people.”
Savannah Grille events are sure to become Lake favorites. Sills has planned exclusive multi-course wine dinners and a particularly romantic prix fixe menu for Valentine’s Day.
“We want our guests to have the opportunity to indulge in the best wine and food available,” Sills said of the upcoming wine dinners. “These will be very special evenings.”
