  • After a successful first year in business, the owners of Papa Chubby's Food and Booze are ready to open the doors for another season. One of the newest and best bars on the water, Papa Chubby's will be up and running by mid-April.
Owners Frank and Cindy Barzso say they had a great summer season after opening in 2012.
"We would like to thank everyone who helped us to have such a successful first year...and all of our employees. We have a great staff," Cindy said. "We are looking forward to a new year."
For the last 8 years, the couple has owned Peaceful Valley Resort and RV Park. Frank says he has always wanted to open a restaurant on the property. Before purchasing the resort, Frank and Cindy ran a mom and pop auto repair/used car lot in West Chicago, Ill. Although it was sad to leave their 6,000+ customer-based business, they were thrilled to start a new adventure at Lake of the Ozarks.
By water, or land, it is an easy drive to Papa Chubby's Food and Booze. The restaurant has plenty of seating space and boat slips for those coming by water. Stay cool inside, or enjoy the outdoors in the covered seating area or on the patio located on a sandy beach.
Expect a revamped menu including the addition of a senior section. They also plan to incorporate some healthier options.
Last year the pizzas, wings and sandwiches were a big hit, Cindy said.
All pizzas are handmade and you can build your own. The wings come with your choice of garlic parmesan, buffalo or honey bbq sauce.
The Rueben is popular, made with marble rye, corned beef, sauerkraut, thousand island sauce and swiss cheese. Other sandwiches are the Chicago Dog, Smashed Meatball Sandwich, and a Pork Tenderloin. All sandwiches come complete with fries and cole slaw.
Kids 10 and younger can choose from grilled cheese, chicken strips, dogs or burgers.
Expect a good crew of friendly staff helping to make the experience a memorable one.
Don't forget to visit the gift shop filled with lots of great T-shirts and other fun novelties. The beach is a great place for the kids to play, while adults can battle it out with a game of bean bags.
