  • The City of Laurie is continuing improvement efforts through its enhancement committee.
On June 10, the board of aldermen approved a partnership with the Lake of the Ozarks Master Naturalists organization to possibly work on a walking trail at the city ball park as well as any other enhancement projects that might come up.
Master Naturalist Lucy Silliman addressed the board to offer her chapter's help on city projects that might help with beautification and environmental issues such as runoff. The chapter has 60-80 members who need to do 40 hours of community service each year in these types of projects, she said.
The walking trail that is being considered at the ball park would likely be mulch with perhaps at some point a paved section that would be handicap accessible.
With judges from the ladies of Preceptor Lambda Alpha, a chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the city's enhancement committee has also started a Laurie Business Beautification Award to recognize business people for keeping their buildings and premises looking nice and in good order.
